Kaiyo Town is located at the southernmost tip of Tokushima Prefecture, with its southeastern coastline overlooking the Pacific Ocean and adjacent to Kochi Prefecture.

Two cedar chopsticks erected by Kobo Daishi have sprouted into a large tree, and it looks as if they are holding up a large rock that is about to fall. There is also a monument nearby called Basho Mound, on which is engraved a haiku by Matsuo Basho, a haiku poet of the Edo period.
